Our top 5 tips for healthy surfer girl hair

Updated: Aug 17, 2022

Spending time in the salt water and sun can wreak havoc on our hair, especially if it's prone to breakage or it's already dry and brittle. We've collated the top 5 tips for preventing further damage to your luscious locks when surfing, swimming and more.

1. Rinse your hair with fresh water before you hop into the ocean, it's a fact that dry hair is more absorbent than wet hair and vice versa. So this means that your hair is less likely to absorb the salty water. 2. Apply coconut oil to the ends of your hair and then plait it (optional but recommended). Coconut oil seals the porous ends of the hair to prevent nasties making its way into your hair, make sure you avoid your scalp though, this can cause sunburn. Plaiting your hair is a great way to prevent matting, as when your hair is out it can become tangled quick! 3. Post surf, give our original surf spray a go. It's been designed to nourish and detangle your hair straight after some ocean time. It's full of natural and organic ingredients and smells delicious.

4. When you can, rinse your hair with fresh water after being in the ocean, to get rid of excess salt, this will just dry your hair out and no one wants that.. 5. Last but not least, apply some oils to your hair, from the scalp all the way to the ends, to nourish and rehydrate after spending time in the ocean and sun. It's not only good for your hair but it also feels soooo nice. We make an organic hair and body oil that can be used all over after a swim/surf!
