Here are a few little prompts from our sustainability journal to enhance your connection to mother earth (papakūānuku) and make conscious, informed decisions in your day to day life.

Have you taken some time to look through items you already have before purchasing new ones? Clothes are a great example of how you can reuse what you already have. Reusing is the number one regenerative form of sustainability because it prevents demand & supply of unnecessary items. Don't like the colour of a t-shirt you own, why not try dying it? If your jeans are too long, cut them into shorts?

Everyone has to shop eventually! We grow out of clothing sizes, couches get destroyed by cats, our old wok broke... whatever the reason, purchasing second hand should always be the first choice.
We live in a world where you will always find what you're looking for second hand and with online marketplaces and opshops/thrift stores everywhere you go, you don't have to look too hard either!
What items in your home are second hand? Could that next purchase be sourced second hand?

If you're looking to buy first hand, supporting local is important. Your locals are up against huge corporations that couldn't give a flying f*** about sustainability and our earth. Supporting local is important to keep the economy within your community thriving. You're also supporting someone's livelihood (their rent, food for the kids etc). So if you're looking for something new, shop local first! Do you know what stores are local to you? Maybe spend some time exploring the local shops in your area or online.
And remember...
